"Help me". C'est avec ces deux mots inscrits sur une note que la jeune fille a pu prévenir de sa situation pendant que son kidnappeur se trouvait dans une laverie.
She was able to be saved thanks to a few letters written down on a piece of paper. The story dates back to this summer. A 13-year-old American girl was approached by a Texan on July 6 in San Antonio. Armed, he forces her into his car, threatening her: "If you don't get in the car with me, I'm going to hurt you."< /em>
The man then leaves with his young victim. The disappearance was reported but for a few days the young girl could not be found.
And for good reason, he is going to undertake a journey with his prisoner. For three days, he sexually assaulted her several times and traveled thousands of miles from Texas to California, as reported by CNN.
On July 9, the kidnapper stopped in a parking lot and went to a Long Beach laundromat, leaving the teenager locked alone in the vehicle. She will take advantage of this time to write a few letters in red ink on a small piece of torn paper: "Help me", which in English means "Help me".
She places the note on the vehicle window. A passerby notices him and calls the police.
The man was already wanted by the police
The officers who arrived on scene checked the license plate. The car belongs to Steven Robert Sablan, 62, who was arrested.
The man was also wanted in Texas for a burglary and considered armed and dangerous.
The young girl was released to reunite with her family.
He just pleaded guilty
As part of a plea agreement, specific in American law, Steven Robert Sablan pleaded guilty this Friday, January 19. The man faces a sentence of life imprisonment. He will also be registered if he were to leave prison in the sex offender file.
