15 couples at Sète town hall to celebrate Valentine's Day

February 17, 1973, in front of their friends and families Jeanine and Claude Cadena say yes to the town hall of Sète. 51 years later, they are back in the wedding hall to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. "Çit's nice to come back here" recognizes this elegant man with long white hair. Yet, as an organizer of weddings and ceremonies, he has seen a certain number of them go by. But "there is always emotion" he confesses. Like him and Jeanine, around fifteen couples gathered yesterday afternoon at the invitation of the mayor to celebrate their golden and silver wedding anniversary, representing respectively 60 and 50 years of living together.

In his opening speech, François Commeinhes, the mayor, therefore congratulated these "dear former newlyweds", and gave them each a small olive tree as well as a diploma attesting to their union. 7 diamond weddings and 8 golden weddings were celebrated. The ceremony ended in good humor with the traditional glass of friendship.
