MISE & Agrave; DAY
Like every year, the members of the Car Guide team were called upon to test all new vehicles introduced to the Canadian market. As the year draws to a close, our team of experts have spoken out and voted for the new models that have left their mark on the automotive industry. & nbsp;
Noting the evolution of the automotive market in recent years, we have revised the categories in 2021. Now, the awards are given to three different vehicles: the best new car of the year, the best new utility of the year and the best new truck of the year.
Without further ado, here are the winners in each category. & nbsp;
Best new car of the year
At the end of a A close fight, it was finally the Volkswagen Golf GTI/R duo who won the title.
Everyone on the team who drove these vehicles was very impressed with their high-flying dynamic capabilities as well as their energetic and efficient engines. Nice layouts that come with an interesting versatility for everyday use.
This German duo is ahead of the Honda Civic and the Chevrolet Bolt EV, the other two finalists for the title of best new car in the year.
The Golf GTI and Golf R succeed the Polestar 2 which won last year's honors. & nbsp;
Best new utility vehicle of the year
The new Genesis GV70 hands down this award with a good lead over the other vehicles in the running.
With a bold design, convincing performance and a very high level of finish, it is logically in the first place. This is even more true when you look at its price, particularly competitive considering the number of comfort and safety equipment provided.
Among the other models evaluated, the GV70 beat the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Toyota Corolla Cross.
It succeeds the Toyota RAV4 Prime, which won last year.
Best new truck of the year
In a category where there are many novelties in 2022, the Ford Maverick is finally on the top step of our podium.
With this new model, Ford offers a well-built entry-level pickup truck that stands out with its standard hybrid powertrain. The Maverick also stood out for its practical size and versatile interior. Finally, it was its price, particularly competitive for those looking for a reasonably priced pickup truck, that tipped the scales in its favor.
The Ford Maverick beats the GMC Hummer EV and the Rivian R1T .
As a reminder, it was the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade quartet that won first prize in 2021.
If you are shopping for a vehicle and you want to know which are the best vehicles in each category, you can find all the results in the Car Guide 2022.
