2,142 people donated blood in 2023 in Millau, a slight decrease compared to 2022

L'amicale des donneurs de sang de Millau a tenu son assemblée générale annuelle. 

The Millau blood donors' association has just held its annual general meeting. After routine questions, the members of the association stressed that with the organization of new collections in Aguessac and the Cavalry, those of Millau have gained in fluidity which translates into a more relaxed atmosphere both on the side of the medical team and that of the volunteer donors.

A total of 2,142 people came forward to donate blood throughout 2023. A number down slightly compared to 2022. A drop due to the heatwave of July. This year the association will organize numerous actions including the journey of life, scheduled for April 17, to motivate new donors to "roll up their sleeves".

As he confided to Midi Libre almost a year ago, Raymond Cassan, the essential president of the association for 20 years, recalled the importance of the donation. "To the donation of bone marrow, the original purpose of the association, but also to the donation of blood, to the donation of organs… We must keep in mind that children and adults still die from leukemia because they cannot find a compatible marrow donor. So yes, through blood donation, bone marrow or organ donation, we all have the power to save lives. " Remember that in France, 10,000 blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of patients.
