A victory for Laguiole knives
#AVEYRON –A twist in the matter of the geographical indication (GI) of the Laguiole knife. On September 6, 2022, the National Institute of Industrial Property (Inpi) granted the GI of the blade decorated with a bee to the application submitted by cutlers based in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme ) from the Claa association, Couteau laguiole Aubrac Auvergne. At the time, for the union of Aveyron knife manufacturers from Laguiole, it was a snub. Especially since in April 2022, their application to obtain the GI in an exclusively Aveyron territory is refused by the Inpi. But that’s ancient history. Thursday July 11, 2024, the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal annulled the decisions of Inpi and the granting of the GI to the Claa association . Carole Delga was delighted:"The Laguiole knife is a strong marker of identity for Aubrac, and Aveyron. It helps to promote all of Occitania throughout the world. The decision of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal restores meaning to the artisanal GIs that I helped to create, through the Hamon law, when I was secretary of ;rsquo;State."
A giant fresco on the Tour de France
#HERAULT – This Tuesday July 16, 2024, on the occasion of the Tour de France passing through Hérault, the farmers of FDSEA 34 will create a giant fresco, visible from the helicopter which broadcasts the television images. Their figure in straw bales was installed in a field at the Sainte Lucie d’Euzet estate in Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers. Theme of the competition in this Olympic year: champions. "The farmers therefore chose to draw a big man, a “super Hérault” with a cape on his back", explains Rémy Dumas president of Young Farmers. Around this fresco, stands will introduce the public to local products. An ola will enliven the passage of cyclists.
