69-year-old Sheri Mobley
The world record for power lifting in his age category set a 69-year-old Shari Mobley of the U.S. state of Arkansas. The woman lifted 138 kg in the deadlift.
“That’s my motivation. It makes me live. Sitting at home — not for me,” Mobley admitted in an interview with news portal Local Memphis.
Sheri Mobley began training with weights when she was 60 years old. Initially, the woman came to her gym to fight osteoporosis, but the pensioner was so pleased to work with weights, she set a goal to beat as many world records.
Visitors to the gym jokingly called it “Grandma-Hulk. Old weighs 55.8 kg and is able to lift weights twice heavier than itself. Shari also can do 175 squats. By October she wants to increase that number to 205.
Mobley working with a trainer four times a week for two hours. “I think it helps me more than I her,” admitted her mentor Kurt Mattison.
