The new census campaign carried out by INSEE begins this Thursday, January 18. Letters were sent in particular at the beginning of January.
While the INSEE figures have just been presented, a new census campaign will begin this Thursday, January 18 and until February 24 inclusive. As a reminder, this procedure is mandatory for designated citizens. And, in addition to the numerical aspect of the population, is important for communities.
A mandatory procedure
The City of Nîmes thus reminds that "cThis approach is really important for the people of Nîmes because it allows us to adjust our level of public service to their needs. We insist on the fact that the households which will be contacted are obliged to respond to the questionnaire. We are really counting on the civic sense of the inhabitants", supports Christine Tournier-Barnier, deputy delegate for general administration.
Thus, some 7,000 households were drawn at random, or 8% of the population, and received, at the beginning of January, a letter signed by Mayor Jean-Paul Fournier, telling them that they were the subject of the census.
In practice
To facilitate the process, the City has put the census questionnaire online: mes-demarches.nimes.fr.
For people who encounter some difficulties with computers or do not have access to the internet, it is possible to complete the questionnaire by post, make an appointment via the Town Hall website, contact the digital office on 04 66 76 70 55 which will help them with the process or contact the population census office on 04 66 76 51 30 .
Attention, a user who does not carry out the census process incurs a fine. More information on the INSEE website: le-recensement-et-moi.fr
