WASHINGTON | The coronavirus has killed 749 people in additional in the United States over the past 24 hours, according to the balance sheet as at 8.30 am Saturday of the Johns Hopkins university, in which reference is made.
This brings to 109 791 the total number of deaths due to the Covid-19 in the United States, where more than 1.9 million cases have been identified. Some 500 000 people have been cured at this stage, according to the university located in Baltimore (United States).
It is the most affected country both in terms of deaths than cases. In contrast, per capita, several european countries are ahead of the United States in terms of the number of deaths, such as France, Italy or Spain.
President Donald Trump has assured Friday that the United States had “largely overcome” the crisis, and has again called on the governors to to reduce their States the restrictions linked to the fight against the epidemic.
At the height of the crisis, in mid-April, the United States had around 3 000 deaths per day. Now, this figure has fallen to around 1 000 deaths and 20 000 infections day-to-day.
But health workers are concerned about the events of magnitude that take place over a week across the country to protest against police brutality and racism. They may eventually lead to a rebound of contamination in the next few weeks.
