Midi Libre celebrates its 80th anniversary this Tuesday, August 27, 2024. In the beginning, on August 27, 1944, the principle of the general interest constituted the DNA of the newspaper, recalled by the founders on the front page of the very first issue. Eighty years later, we remain faithful to the legacy of the founders, aware of our role for democracy and freedom.

At the beginning of Midi LibreOn August 27, 1944, a human adventure was first born. A group of resistance fighters united in the name of the values ​​of freedom, independence, secularism and humanism.

Courageous journalists, driven by the ambition to offer a media where truth, rigor, and free criticism would be combined, where they would bring to life their vocation of testimony and investigations, of small and large stories on this territory of Languedoc now liberated. The history of our title then became intertwined with that of the Nation.
