A banned rave party is currently taking place on the main runway of Quimper airport, in Brittany. Although banned by the Finistère prefecture, the event would have brought together between 8,000 and 10,000 festival-goers.

They came from the four corners of France and Belgium for the most part: 80,000 to 10,000 "teufeurs" would have gathered on the tarmac of Quimper airport, in Brittany, where an undeclared and unauthorized rave party has been taking place since Friday March 29.

The prefecture had banned the event

Informed of’a possible "rave party or teknival", organized between the 29&nbsp March and April 2, the Finistère prefecture issued a decree on Wednesday to prohibit the gathering. But that did not prevent festival-goers from flocking in numbers to the airport platform of Pluguffan, a small town near Quimper, whose commercial activity has been interrupted since November.

Saturday March 30, in a press release, the prefecture that the number of participants was "estimated at more than 6 000 people" and "more than 2 vehicles". Twenty-four hours later, 2,000 to 4,000 "partyrs" more joined the party.

Police custody and medical evacuations

Ten to twelve sound walls, with stages, were installed on the airport site, while amateurs, coming by truck and car from all over France and Belgium, pitched their tents around the tarmac.

According to information from our colleagues at France Bleu, four people have been taken into police custody since the start of the event. Three of them for use of narcotics and another person "following contempt and rebellion against persons holding public authority".

In addition, emergency services treated 28 people, ten of whom were evacuated in a state of emergency.

"We need to be young!"< /h2>

Surprisingly, not all local residents are opposed to this gathering. : "We need to be young! Yes, we can hear a little from my house but we will turn the television louder!", relativizes a resident of the town on the microphone of our colleagues.

Since this Sunday morning, law enforcement from neighboring departments have been carrying out road checks to dissuade people from coming. "The population is invited to avoid the airport area and anyone who joins the gathering would be placing themselves in an illegal situation", indicates the prefecture.
