Volleyball: Arago de Sète took the whole of Barrou on a hell of a roller coaster
|Around Pépin Rajoharivelo, the Sétois showed great resilience to win. FREE NOON – Jérôme Belluire
The Sétois, 3-2 winners of Saint-Nazaire this Saturday February 10, played with the hearts of their supporters.
A wind of madness crossed the stands of Barrou this Saturday. Arago pressed all the buttons on the emotional elevator, ending up happily on the highest floor.
However, we thought, despite a good start, that the Nazairiens would quickly give up. « Opposite, they took a lot of risks on serve and made mistakes in the first set, this is what allowed us to dominate », analyzes Luc Marquet. « I didn’t like this start, I was wary. And the second set was catastrophic. We were exhausted, sickly, sad… All this at the same time. In the third set, we tried to play alchemists on the bench, with a lot of options taken to prepare for the rest. And it worked. »
Winning bet
Winners in the fourth set with a fine final sprint, the Sétois then experienced a totally irrational tie-break. With Rippert at the forefront and Beriot as a finisher on the wing, they came back from 3-9 and 7-12 to snatch the victory 17-15. Amazing. « We took all the risks in service, we could no longer just give them balls. On the other hand, did they see themselves as too beautiful? I don't know but it was their turn to stutter. We took the winning bet of putting Tibo Rippert at the forefront. I know that Rubinho is very stats, very numbers, and that by doing that I could destabilize his game plan. »
With two consecutive victories at Barrou and young people like Beriot (strong in the "money-time") or Hrytsenko (in the absence of Kreek, suffering from a back) who know how to seize their chance, the Arago has therefore relaunched itself. « It’s another great collective victory », concludes the Sète coach. « The many changes bring freshness and everyone remains mobilized. » Including in the stands.
