From Tuesday April 9, 2024, advertising will enter the Amazon Prime Video platform for French subscribers. Except for those who pay extra.
It's confirmed! As with Netflix and Disney+; the Prime Video platform is starting to advertise. From April 9, 2024, for French subscribers, films and series will include advertising "in limited quantities", indicates the platform which recently announced the news to its subscribers in an email.

A major change, but Amazon's video-on-demand service is reassuring: "We aim to have significantly fewer advertisements than the classic linear television and other streaming services", indicates Numerama.
1.99 € per month to avoid advertisements
For those who don't want ads or pay more, unsubscribing is free. Otherwise, they will have to pay an additional sum of 1.99 € per month, in addition to the subscription. Including this extra, the offer to Prime Video will therefore increase from 6.99 € at 8.98 € per month. The annual subscription will cost moviegoers 93.78 € against 69.90 € previously. A choice which, according to Amazon, "will make it possible to continue investing in attractive content and increase investments in the long term ."
Finally, the Prime Video email specifies that this only concerns France. This was already the case in the United Kingdom and Germany in Europe, and more widely in the United States and Canada. On the other hand, Belgium, the Netherlands or Luxembourg "will not see ads in their experience at the moment" .
