Stopover in Sète 2024: Sète marine carpenters at the bedside of the last feluccas of Corsica

Less than three months before its 2024 edition (from March 26 to April 1), Escale à Sète continues to forge links with its guest of honor, Corsica. Very real links, since a delegation from Sète will go to the Isle of Beauty next week.

It will notably be composed of the two Sète marine carpenters Robert Contreras and Raymond Dublanc, the latter also being co-president of Escale à Sète.

Restoration operation for Corsican feluccas

Master craftsmen will not travel empty. They take with them equipment to lend a hand to their Corsican colleagues, engaged in a project to renovate the last feluccas on the island. These boats, inspired by those of the Barbary pirates, were used for fishing and coastal transport.

And to transport his equipment, Raymond Dugrand will be able to count on another boat, much larger than the Corsican boats. The Sétois entrusted his caulking box to the commander of the Abeille Méditerranée, Frédéric Denis.

After having hosted last November the press conference of the Escale festival, quay of Algiers, the deep sea tug headed this Tuesday towards the # 39;Isle of beauty for the presentation of the Corsican delegation, next Tuesday.
