Since this morning of Saturday April 13, several thousand people from France but also from Spain and Italy have participated in a rave party on the Larzac plateau between Millau and La Cavalerie. Gendarmerie and civil security are on site.

This Saturday afternoon, under a blazing sun, vans and cars were still zigzagging on the dirt roads of the Larzac plateau between La Cavalerie and Millau. Scattered convoys who wanted to join the rave party that had started a few hours earlier on the site known as "1789 the trees of Liberty" planted there for the bicentenary of the Revolution.

Gendarmerie and civil security on site

"The first participants, between 500 and a thousand people, arrived early this Saturday morning" confirms the sub-prefect of Aveyron Véronique Martin Saint-Léon. In the afternoon around 5000 people would have already reached the meeting point of the rave party. "It’s about ;an Italian and Spanish organization but French people also participate. They will be there until Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Obviously we have deployed civil security resources to ensure the health management of the premises. The gendarmes are also mobilized for security and vehicle checks."

Pickup trucks on dirt roads

This Saturday afternoon several gendarmerie cars from the Millau group were actually stationed at a crossroads on the RD 809 between Millau and La Cavalerie. "They provide vehicle flow management and monitoring". A few kilometers further, however, vans and even small groups of young people on foot were working to reach the rave party site by taking small dirt roads on the plateau of Larzac. A site which had already been chosen by the party members in August 2016. At the time, participants numbered in the tens of thousands.
