Best baguette: Benjamin Auriau champion

#OCCITANIE – The captivating scent of freshly baked baguettes is back on the square in front of Notre-Dame de Paris, with the 10th National competition for the best traditional French baguette, which takes place from May 12 to 15, 2024. Benjamin Auriau, manager of the Tradition Gourmande brand, in Coufouleux (Tarn), will represent Occitanie. At only 27 years old, he will face 21 candidates. They will have six hours to make forty baguettes."If I am rewarded, it will be a source of pride for the work provided throughout the year", he says. Occitanie is counting on him to bring the cup home!

#HERAULT – This is in euros the amount devoted to the Mediterranean gardens project in Bayssan. "They were imagined as a theater of expression of the Mediterranean, its nature, its culture and its landscapes", indicates the Departmental Council of the ;rsquo;Hérault. The return of bullfighting to Pérols suspended by the judge's decision

#TAUROMACHIE – On February 15, 2023, the mayor of Pérols, near Montpellier, announced the holding of a novillada with put to death, thus reviving bullfighting. Anti-corrida associations immediately attacked the deliberation in court. On May 16, 2023, the Montpellier administrative court suspended the deliberation of the municipal council authorizing the bullfighting spectacle with killing, on July 15. The summary judge then ruled that there did not exist "an uninterrupted local tradition of bullfighting". The municipality of Pérols had appealed and the procedure will be examined on its merits, this Tuesday, May 14, 2024. On the other hand, whatever the decision, there will be no bullfight this summer in Pérols, because "the judgment will be reserved. So, it is impossible for us to organize a novillada this year in just a few weeks, because it requires months of work", indicates the mayor of the town, Jean- Pierre Rico.

A sailboat on fire offshore, two people injured

#LA GRANDE-MOTTE – Off the coast of Port-Camargue, Monday May 13, a sailboat caught fire with a couple on board. The fire apparently broke out in the engine compartment. Quickly, the two occupants triggered the life raft and boarded, following Cross Med's instructions. Another speedboat was able to pick them up. The man was slightly intoxicated, while his wife suffered a calf injury. The firefighters took care of the two victims and took them to the hospital. SNSM rescuers dispatched the Sainte-Sarah speedboat to the scene to fight the fire with two fire hoses. The sailboat drifted off the coast of La Grande-Motte, then it sank.

Change of director for the airport company

#BEZIERS – Isabelle Roumagnou leaves the management of Béziers-Cap d’Agde airport and Fabrice Créon succeeds her. In post since the summer of 2021, she herself took over from Pascal Pintre, who was responsible for developing the airport platform from 2007. Béziers has thus established an extensive partnership with the Irish low-cost company Ryanair, which offers around ten destinations in Europe each summer. As for Fabrice Créon, he was until then director of the joint union at Limoges-Bellegarde airport.
