The Mediterranean Flavor Days get a new lease of life at the Nîmes Fountain Gardens

Jean-Paul Fournier, Magali Saumade, Franck Proust, Aurélie Génolher and Vincent Bouget unveiled the JM’S poster. Midi Libre – Y.B.

L’Agglo, organizer of this real agricultural show with a Gard flavor, has chosen the Jardins de la Fontaine as the new setting for the event from May 31 to June 2 with the agreement of the town hall of Nîmes.

Created in 2004 by the mayor of Nîmes Jean-Paul Fournier, then president of the Agglo, the Mediterranean Flavors Days, a real agricultural show with Gardoise sauce, will offer a new lease of life from Friday May 31 to Sunday June 2 at the Jardins de la Fontaine.

After the Esplanade, more difficult to secure, the president of Nîmes Métropole Franck Proust and the president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Gard, found a suitable setting. ;:"This is the second agricultural show in Occitanie what's more, outdoors, in the city center, and I would like to thank the mayor of Nîmes who was a little afraid that’ rsquo;we damage "his" Gardens! We want to show that agriculture is a real asset for our territory, a pillar of our economy", said Franck Proust.

Farmer mobilization

During the presentation of the event, Jean-Paul Fournier spoke "of a dream location" and the precious partnership of the Agglo with the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, represented this Wednesday by the Gard president Xavier Perret, the CCI and of course the Chamber of Agriculture. Its president Magali Saumade pointed out that Gard agriculture deserves such a showcase to show the people of Gard the quality of our agriculture.  It is true that the success of the operation relies heavily on the mobilization of the department's farmers.

An event which also received financial support from the Department (28,000 euros for the JM’S, presence at the Paris Agricultural Show for two years), represented by Vincent Bouget, as well as the Occitanie Region, two communities which support agriculture throughout the year through initiatives, as highlighted by regional elected official Aurélie Génolher.

Living Farm at Bosquet

To attract the public who will have a great opportunity to support Gard agriculture in the midst of a crisis, the JM’S, which are held once every two years, will be organized by site. Thus, at the Bosquet, in addition to the exhibition of agricultural machines, a living farm will offer to the public eyes cows (like the Aubracs), sheep, pigs, horses, rabbits, glass beehive, Longhorn.

The horse will also be in the spotlight this year thanks to the participation of the Occitanie Equine Council as well as the Regional Riding Committee. On the menu: equestrian demonstrations in a quarry and carriage rides. The Gard equestrian industry will thus display all its richness.

Visitors will be able to go free of charge, in the Gardens (via the east entrance), to the markets for Occitanie, local and artisan products, to the Self-farmer of Bienvenue à la ferme, to the partners' village with free entertainment, games and competitions. Wine lovers will not be disappointed with a bar run by the Young Farmers of Gard. President Romain Angelras also announces an evening hosted by the JA around Gard wine productions, those of the competition, with musical entertainment and tapas Friday May 31, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (free entry).

The event will also make it possible to present on Saturday June 1st the project, launched in the fall, of Gard flour which will make it possible to have on the shelves the wand of the department. An approach that Magali Saumade believes in a lot.
