La Croix-Rouge de la Lozère organise deux réunions d’information et de recrutement pour étoffer son équipe de secouristes.
The Mendekiden, this Saturday May 25, 2024 in Mende, brings together more than 720 runners. To accommodate all these little people, it was necessary to mobilize volunteers, which the Éveil mendois athletics had no trouble doing. And for everything to go well for these athletes, it was also necessary to mobilize the Red Cross, in order to provide, if necessary, first aid during the race.
There are seven rescuers, volunteers, who are on deck, from the start at 7:30 p.m. until the arrival of the last ones, around one in the morning. But in fact, some were already there at 3 p.m., to start setting up the advanced aid station, and will finish putting everything away and cleaning the vehicles around 2 a.m.
The Red Cross is approved for civil security. As such, it intervenes, in conjunction with the Samu and the firefighters, in around fifty events each year: sporting competitions , cultural events, festivals, concerts, village festivals…
Call for volunteers
To respond to all these requests, the Lozère Red Cross is looking for new volunteers who want to become first aiders. There are in fact only fifteen rescuers currently, including two intervention leaders. A bit tight considering the number of events to cover.
The Red Cross is organizing two information and recruitment meetings, on Wednesdays, May 29 and June 5 at 6:30 p.m., in the premises of the local unit of Mende, Colucci house at 14 avenue Foch. There is still time to get started, the necessary training (PSE1 + PSE2) is offered by the Red Cross and takes place in Mende.
The Red Cross also welcomes volunteers for all kinds of tasks and missions.
