Wheelchair tennis: and three for Compsois Guilhem Laget
Competing at Roland Garros, even with a wild card (invitation), even with a defeat in the 1st round, had further strengthened Guilhem Laget's status. For a few days, here is the Compsois on the cover photo on the FFT website, interview and supporting video after his title of French wheelchair tennis champion, last weekend in Honfleur (Calvados).
Champion without losing a set in the tournament
''Yes, it’s me !'', he exclaimed this Thursday, all smiles, upon hearing the news. On the bill, the 26-year-old from Gardois was also there on the clay courts of Normandy, seeded n° 1 of this French championship and assuming his rank, without losing a set in the tournament (3 group wins, one in the final, 6-2, 6-1 against Langlois).
A third national title for Guilhem Laget after those won in 2021 and 2022.
To a racket from the Games
Not really time to breathe for (probably) the new ''n° 2 French in the next ranking (he was 3rd)'', he slips, him in the ;waiting for another big tournament: the Paralympic Games in Paris, end of August: ''In principle, it should be good for the selection, we will know that on July 15.''
If the national authorities still expressed some doubts, the title of champion of France will undoubtedly have dispelled them for good.
