Legislative elections 2024: in Hérault as in Paris, the Republicans aim for “reconstruction” then the municipal elections

Where are the Republicans at the end of these legislative elections ? At the national level, the party swayed very hard a few weeks before the first round of voting when its president, Éric Ciotti, announced an alliance with the National Rally. The day after the vote, he found himself without a leader, of course, but with a group of around sixty elected officials who could have their role to play in the Assembly, in the absence of a majority . None come from Hérault. For this early election, the departmental federation only had two representatives, Éric Chaveroche in the 1st constituency and Sandra Houée in the second. They obtained exactly the same score: 4.29%. If LR puts up resistance in the hemicycle, has he surrendered in the Hérault?

Who to replace Stéphan Rossignol ?

"No !", replies his departmental secretary Arnaud Julien. "But we are under reconstruction, in Paris as in Hérault. Locally, we have to wait a little while the national authorities set the course, the group in the Assembly gets organized and the procedures come to an end. We stay at work." In a few weeks, the LRs of Hérault – party activists and executives – should come together. The question of the presidency of the Republicans of Hérault will be asked. The position has been vacant since the resignation of the mayor of La Grande-Motte, Stéphan Rossignol, "in response to the statement by Éric Ciotti".

"Stéphan left the post, but not Les Républicains. We continue to discuss a lot, particularly on future deadlines." Understanding the municipal elections, in 2026. "We must take stock today with the outgoing mayors, with the potential candidates… We have to rebuild ourselves.
