Un homme est soupçonné d'avoir violé une jeune femme en se faisant passer pour un policier, à Caen. Il a été interpellé le 6 juillet 2024.

A man suspected of having raped a young woman while posing as an undercover police officer in Caen has been imprisoned and a call for witnesses has been launched, we learned this Tuesday July 9, 2024 with the Caen prosecutor and the police.

He disputes the facts

On June 30, 2024, a young woman declared to the police station of this Norman town “that she had been arrested then attacked during the night in the town center of Caen by a man traveling alone in an unmarked vehicle and presenting himself as a plainclothes police officer", specify in a press release the public prosecutor of Caen, Joël Garrigue and the interdepartmental director of the national police, Guillaume Mauger.

The investigation conducted by the Calvados judicial police made it possible to arrest the accused on July 6 at his home in Caen, according to the same sources.

Another victim, only "controlled" previously by this 35-year-old man in the Caen sector, was able to describe to investigators his vehicle allowing his identification. The accused disputes "the essential facts" which he is accused of, add Mr. Garrigue and Mr. Mauger.

He was indicted " on charges of rape, usurpation of title, diploma or status, public use of badge or document capable of creating a mistake with those of the police to commit a crime or misdemeanor" and placed in pre-trial detention.

A call for witnesses launched

A call for witnesses has been launched: he invites "any person, who has been the subject of an inspection carried out by a man alone, in an unmarked vehicle, presenting themselves as a police officer or having the appearance of a police officer as well as any person who has witnessed a check of this type, to contact the Caen police station at 02.31.29.22.22 or by email dipn14-pj-dcos-crim@interieur.gouv.fr".
