Patrice Evra's completely lunar reaction after being found guilty of abandoning his family and unpaid alimony

Patrice Evra a été condamné. Hasan Bratic – Hasan Bratic

L’ex-capitaine de l’équipe de France de football Patrice Evra a été reconnu coupable d’abandon de famille par le tribunal correctionnel de Nanterre, a-t-on appris samedi par son avocat, confirmant une information du Parisien.

Patrice Evra, former defender of the Blues, Manchester United and Juventus Turin, appealed this decision, said his counsel, Me Jérôme Boursican, affirming that "the facts are disputed". He also posted a video on social media where he is seen in prison uniform.

According to Me Nathalie Dubois, lawyer for Mr. Evra's wife, the defendant was sentenced to 12 months in prison with suspended probation and 4,000 euros in damages for abandoning his family between May and ;nbsp;2021 and September 2023. The ex-footballer was sued by his wife, with whom he is in divorce proceedings and who accuses him of not having paid alimony since 2020, explained Me Dubois.

A sum amounting to 969,000 euros

"I am happy that the abandonment of the family suffered by the wife and two children of Patrice Evra was sanctioned at the height of the brutality with which he abandoned them and that the lies he has been serving to justice for four years did not fool the magistrates", reacted the ;rsquo;lawyer.

According to the council, the arrears of Mr. Evra, 43, amount to 969,000 euros. A version contested by Me Boursican, who maintains that his client was "more than generous with his wife".

"Overnight"

While he has known his wife since he was 15, Patrice Evra left to live in 2020 with a Danish model he met in England and left his family behind "overnight", explained Me Dubois. He had two other children from this union.

When requested, the Nanterre public prosecutor's office did not respond immediately. In another case, Patrice Evra was sentenced in 2023 to a fine of 1,000 euros by the Paris police court for homophobic insults, for comments targeting PSG dating from 2019.
