In five years, SD Système, located in Magalas, has successfully transformed itself. From traditional carpentry, it has transformed into a dynamic company which combines home improvement and energy savings.

SD Système had already existed for ten years when Virginie Guigo and Thierry Ferrand took it over. "We always wanted to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure together. Five years ago, we met the manager at the time and he wanted to sell, confides Virginie. The company was super healthy, so we seized the opportunity!" At the start, it was Virginie, from human resources sector, which is 100% dedicated to the development of the company: "It was a real challenge for me, especially that I arrived at a carpentry activity rather with a masculine connotation! I was lucky enough to be supported and trained in this new profession for several months by the previous manager."

Diversification of activity towards renewable energies

As soon as the company was taken over, the couple focused on diversifying the traditional activity and moving towards renewable energies, in particular photovoltaics. The reasons which push them towards this evolution: the socio-economic and ecological context, as well as the expertise of Thierry, with more than twenty years of experience in the field of electricity and renewable energies. "We wanted to offer a complete solution to our customers for the energy quality of their homes", he explains. To consolidate this new direction, SD Système recruited from the first year a new carpenter and an electrician who very quickly specialized, alongside Thierry, in automation, photovoltaics and charging stations.

A boom driven by ecological awareness

Very quickly, the photovoltaic activity took precedence over the carpentry activity – a dazzling growth which reflects a global environmental awareness. Thierry underlines: "Since the beginning of the 2000s, numerous state aids have encouraged the French to take an interest in photovoltaics but a certain reluctance is felt towards the installers. For two or three years, a new trend has been emerging. Consumers are more confident, and their behavior is evolving along with their ecological and even economic awareness. The latest announcements concerning the increase in electricity prices in 2024
should further accelerate this craze." To meet this demand, SD Système offers personalized solutions, adapted to the specific needs of each client, thanks to its own teams 100% dedicated to photovoltaics. "We also support our clients on all administrative matters and also on the legal and fiscal aspects of photovoltaics. This involves constant monitoring and training for the entire team."

"Achieve 100% French"

The ambition of SD Système is to continue its expansion while strengthening its ecological commitment. "Our goal is to reach – and we are almost there ! – 100% French on the product side and to continue to provide real technical advice and impeccable customer service." Another major project for the year 2024, to support the growth of the company : "We are actively looking for new, larger premises, with the idea of bring us closer to Béziers,” concludes the couple.
