L’animal, dressé pour défendre sa maîtresse, a sauté sur l’un de ses agresseurs et l’a grièvement mordu à la cuisse.
A 20-year-old woman, who was walking her dog near Place Laissac in Montpellier, was attacked on Wednesday, August 7, around 10 p.m. by a group of five individuals.
After a few inappropriate whistles, they began to utter sexual insults at her.
Inappropriate proposals
The Montpellier woman ignored them and continued on her way, holding tightly to the leash of her dog, trained to defend her.
A trio then got up and began to follow her while continuing to harass her and make inappropriate proposals.
Heavily insulted and even filmed
Except that at one point, one of them got a little too close to her. The dog, sensing danger, then turned around and jumped on her, biting her violently on the thigh.
She immediately called him to order and the animal let go. But while one might have thought that the attack would calm things down, on the contrary, it stirred up hatred. The young woman was then copiously insulted and even filmed to intimidate her.
Apprehended shortly after
Fortunately, she had the support of passers-by who intervened and put her attackers to flight. The municipal police were notified and a report was sent over the airwaves.
Finally, the two most virulent, who had left the scene on a scooter, were located and apprehended shortly after by a crew from the Metropolitan Transport Police.
In an irregular situation
They are two Algerian homeless men, aged 21 and 27, in an irregular situation on the national territory. Both were taken into custody for questioning.
Regular checks
Sexual and gender-based abuse is extremely difficult to identify in flagrante delicto, despite regular checks. On the day of the events, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an operational partnership group (GPO) “Transport and Tourism” had also been set up at the terminus of line 1, at La Mosson.
An operation carried out jointly by the national and municipal police and agents of the metropolitan transport police. Seventy people were checked in eight trams and two buses on line 668 which serves the Pont du Diable in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert where many incidents had been recorded last year.
This Wednesday morning, several fines were issued, including a fixed fine for possession of narcotics and carrying a weapon. A 15-year-old was found in possession of a butterfly knife. After being taken into custody, he was brought before the juvenile court.
As for the individual who was bitten, he was taken care of by the Hérault firefighters and transported to the Lapeyronie hospital.
