Heatwave alert: 83 departments placed on alert this Sunday, high temperatures are moving north

For this Sunday, August 11, Météo France has extended the heatwave warning to 83 departments, including 28 placed at orange level.

Maximum temperatures climbed across the entire southern half this Saturday, August 11, often reaching 34 to 37 °C with peaks of 37 to 39 °C from Aude to Vaucluse, indicates Météo Express. This Sunday, August 11, these high temperatures should move north with 34 to 38 °C over 2/3 of France and up to 40 °C in Aquitaine.

28 departments on orange alert

Thus, Météo France has extended the heatwave alert to 83 departments for this Sunday. 28 of them will be placed in orange level, compared to only 16 the day before, mainly in the south of France.

The east of the territory will be on alert until Tuesday, August 13. In Occitanie, only the department of Lozère is spared, and remains on green alert. For the other departments of the region, nothing changes except for Ariège and the Hautes-Pyrénées which switch to yellow alert.
