Firefighters Arrive Too Late: Woman Gives Birth in Supermarket Parking Lot in Redessan, Gard

The baby was born in the parking lot, even before the firefighters arrived. 

It's a curious arrival in the world… Shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, the firefighters were alerted by the gendarmerie that a woman was giving birth in the parking lot of the Auchan supermarket, on the Beaucaire road in Redessan.

The firefighters deployed a VSAV (rescue and victim assistance vehicle) and a nurse from Beaucaire. But by the time they arrived on site, the little boy had already been born!

The due date was August 15. The baby and the mother are doing well and the family, who live in Jonquières-Saint-Vincent, were taken to the hospital.
