Football: some concerns for Frontignan on the starting line of Regional 1

Frontignan, après la Wallonie, est la nouvelle destination pour Thomas Boudjemaa.

The start of the season is approaching and all the lights are not green for Asfac.

The end of the holidays is approaching for the Thau clubs, daily concerns are resurfacing. As for many French people, at the start of a recovery, after a period where we put aside daily problems, questions appear. Have we made the right choices? In terms of the squad, will it be enough to tackle a tough championship? Will we be physically ready? Will we have a budget that matches our ambitions? These are all questions that all those in charge of teams set to start a season ask themselves.

Only two departures but a heavy loss

In R1, Greg Tanagro, the Asfac coach, does not hide his signs of concern. Of course, the group has only had two departures but that of Jean Aldérigi remains a heavy loss, one of the best full-backs in the region is now at Fabrègues. «  We are changing groups, it will be more complicated », declares the Frontignan coach. «  We are limited in terms of budget and the number of transfers, a few injuries have appeared, clearly not everything is going well, the season is launched! »

But the coach also knows that, under the “Arrivals” sign, we note those of Balarucois Sunny Cameler and Enzo Vidal, as well as Sandro Pagès who is returning to the region. A young goalkeeper, Justin Vaurs, is also arriving from Aurillac, while Karim Idha, a 21-year-old midfielder trained at Montpellier HSC, has left Grau-du-Roi to join the Muscat group. This is also the case for Thomas Boudjemaa, from RUW Ciney (D3 Belgium). Having played for Béziers, this experienced player should reassure the defensive sector. Finally, Lucas Perrin, after his studies in the United States, will discover football in Occitanie.

A championship that promises to be tough

What the coach is certain of is that the field is tough. Clermont, which is coming off a near-perfect edition, should once again play a leading role. With Nicolas Guibal at the helm and a well-targeted recruitment, this could be the season for this ambitious club. Nicolas Le Bellec's GC Lunel is not far behind and also looks formidable. By erasing some of the flaws that appeared with an XXL recruitment with the ex-pro Koura or the former Sète players Segura and Gregorio, the leaders do not hide their desire to evolve higher.

Narbonne, Fabrègues, Nîmes Olympique II, the relegated from N3, Saint-Estève and Saint-Clément, Atlas or Béziers complete a group of outsiders.

Remaining with more serenity than the previous edition, that is the muscatier objective. The unknown Mende, Vauvert, Canet-Roussillon II and Grau-du-Roi will be opponents to respect. The teams ranked thirteenth and fourteenth will be relegated. Now it's time for the field.
