“We listen to people”: fireworks, vintage cars and stars from the 80s to celebrate August 15 in Alès.

The festivities of August 15, in the capital of the Cévennes, in the Gard, will begin in the afternoon, with a gathering of vintage cars and will continue until late at night.

" We know that the public will be there and that this date will be followed by all", declares confidently, Raphaële Navarro, deputy mayor of Alès in charge of the festivities, in anticipation of the day of August 15. And for good reason, a well-oiled program is announced!

From this afternoon, Boulevard Louis-Blanc will see the appearance of vintage cars from 3 p.m., whose owners responded to the call launched by the Cévennes & Cars association a few days ago. On the program, baptisms in vintage cars then parade in the streets of the city before a gathering with musical entertainment at 7 p.m. on the Place du Cratère.

New: an orchestra before the fireworks

This year, the city has modified the traditional organization. "We are listening to people and some had suggested planning an event before the fireworks", explains the elected official. " So we programmed the Richard Gardet’orchestra which will play for one hour starting at 9:30". A moment during which singing and dancing will be there. At 10:30 p.m., it will be time for the public to settle down on the banks of the Gardon, between the Pont-Neuf and the Pont-Vieux, on the side of the River Gardon. #39;Carnet Avenue to enjoy the fireworks show.

Concert side, after the 90s last year, the city has chosen to return to the 80s with stars "representative of this periode" like Lio, the "Queen of Bananas"&nbsp ;as she presents herself on social networks, Jean-Pierre Morgand (Les Avions), Sabine Paturel, made famous with her first "Les bêtises" and Raft who performed "Yaka danced" in 1987. The meeting is set for 11 p.m., Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. Weather-wise, only a slight drop in temperatures is forecast. "Si it's slightly veiled, it won't be disturbing", says amused, Raphaële Navarro.
