In a fit of anger, this thirty-something Jura native broke the electronic bracelet he was wearing after a conviction. He was brought before the judicial court this Wednesday, August 14, which sentenced him to four months in prison.

A fit of anger, following a family argument with alcohol in the background. This Monday, August 12, a thirty-year-old from Jura was arrested by the Clermont-l’Hérault gendarmerie after deliberately destroying the electronic bracelet he was wearing following a previous conviction handed down in June.

"Not a bad guy"

The deterioration of the surveillance system immediately prompted the alert of the integration and probation service and, subsequently, the intervention of the gendarmes. Antoine was therefore presented this Wednesday before the judicial court, tried for escape and damage to equipment belonging to the prison administration. Although he has several mentions in his criminal record, mainly for traffic offences, the accused arrived in Hérault at the beginning of the summer, hosted by his uncle, and claims to be in a logic of reintegration for a year.

According to the representative of the prosecution, however, his behavior calls into question the sentence modification that he had obtained. "He does not&rsquo ;can't understand the rule, respect it, I'm not sure he understands what's at stake" observes the prosecutor. She requests against Antoine a sentence of six months in prison accompanied by a warrant of committal at the hearing.

"Six months, plus the five months of the previous sentence, that's eleven months! We are instead proposing an extension of his placement under a bracelet but with an obligation of care. He's not a bad guy" insists his lawyer.

The Jurassian was finally sentenced to four months in prison, the court entrusting the sentencing judge with the terms of his execution as well as that of his previous conviction.
