The big summer sale at the Vitrines de Sète began on Friday, August 16, in the city center of the singular island.

“Come on, ladies and gentlemen! 10 € for shorts, – 50 % off dresses!", we could hear this Friday in rue Général-de-Gaulle. The big summer clearance sale, organized by the Union commercial des Vitrines de Sète in partnership with the CCI de l’Hérault and the City of Sète, is making its big return to the streets of Sète.& nbsp; From 10 a.m., hundreds of visitors came looking for good deals.

"This allows us to liquidate our summer stock"

For 14 years, this event has been a must for merchants. Items for men, women, children and accessories are on sale at unbeatable prices. "It’is become a habit for us to participate in this clearance sale. There's something for everyone. We sell products and visitors get good deals, confides Mr. Valette, manager with his father of the Valette fils Bayard boutique.

Almost all the merchants played the game on General-de-Gaulle and Gambetta streets. Although they are forced to reduce their margin on certain products, they still find advantages. "This allows us to liquidate our stock summer, says Nell, the manager of the D’Nell clothing store. Otherwise, it ends up in boxes until next year and it's cluttering up our lives. By selling it, we can then move on to the new fall-winter collections".

"We see a difference in our turnover during these two days, adds Mr. Valette. Sometimes, visitors come into the store to try on the discounted products, discover the new collection and leave with non-sale items."

"I'd rather have 10 € in my till than 60 € in a box"

"This event generates word of mouth about our store, notes one of the shopkeepers on Rue Gambetta. People will talk about our store to those around them and come back. So, it's a win-win situation for us. Even if we sometimes sell at a loss, I'd rather have 10 euros in my till than 60 euros in boxes".

This first day brought together many visitors to the great delight of the traders. “I already have stock shortages on several items, explains Nathalie Munoz, president of the association of Vitrines de Sète. I am happy to see people. It was important to me that everything goes well, especially for this edition which is the first that I organize."

For those who did not have the opportunity to go this Friday, do not panic. The sale will continue this Saturday, until 7 p.m.
