Koh-Lanta: Catalan Ugo Latriche, one of the most emblematic candidates, makes his big comeback in the new season

“Être capitaine, ça rajoute une pression supplémentaire.” L'Indépendant – Clementz Michel

Ugo Latriche, one of the most iconic candidates of Koh-Lanta, is embarking on a new adventure for the third time. Known for his victory in Malaysia in 2012 and his impressive journey on the island of the banished in 2021, he is leaving again for the edition entitled “The Cursed Tribe”, filmed in the Philippines.

This is the third time that Ugo Latriche, former champion of Koh-Lanta in 2012, will participate in the adventure which begins this Tuesday, August 20 on TF1. The Catalan confides in Actu Perpignan. As he approaches this new challenge, Ugo admits to feeling both fear and excitement: "I'm a little scared in real life, like every time. […] I know how difficult Koh-Lanta is". Yet despite his past successes, he adopts a liberated mindset: “I have nothing to lose, so I'm going to have fun”. With no less than two experiences already under his belt, Ugo recognizes that his past can work both in his favor and against him: “We definitely have an advantage when it comes to survival on the island. […] But new adventurers can also tell themselves that we are a danger as a revenant".

Captain in spite of himself

This season, the new thing for Ugo is taking on the role of team captain, a responsibility he dreads: "Being captain adds extra pressure. […] I'm going to do it my way, but I don't know if it will take". Aware of the social dimension of the game, he confides to our colleagues that he is preparing to manage this responsibility with caution. For Ugo, Koh-Lanta remains a “social and human adventure, but above all terribly hard”. He mentions hunger as the greatest difficulty, a “terrible” ordeal that “pulls, weakens, and monopolizes the mind”. This adventure, which is close to the myth of Robinson, is for him “The most difficult thing you can do”.

Objective victory

Although pleasure and experience are at the heart of his approach, Ugo does not hide his ambitions: “As always, the objective is to win. […] I'm aiming for first place, of course" he says to Actu. And if the production were to offer him a fourth participation ? Ugo remains cautious : "I'm getting older […] but for now, there's one more adventure to discover". Ugo Latriche is ready to go back into battle, determined to write a new chapter in his legend in Koh-Lanta. The appointment is made for the first episode, broadcast on Tuesday, August 20 at 9:10 p.m.
