Shocking scene filmed in Paris: three off-duty police officers shoot with handguns from a balcony, they are suspended

Les faits se sont déroulés vendredi 30 août à Paris "a priori dans un contexte d'alcoolisation", selon une source policière.

Three police officers from the police headquarters were arrested on Friday, August 30 in Paris after firing into the air from a balcony while they were off duty, without causing any injuries, AFP learned from a police source.

The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed that it had “been informed of the arrest by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of three off-duty police officers from the Public Order and Traffic Directorate (DOPC) of the police headquarters for firing into the air from a balcony in the 19th arrondissement”. The 2nd judicial police district was in charge of the investigations, the public prosecutor said.

According to the police source, the alert was raised after three men were seen around 8am on the fourth floor of a building in the east of the capital, firing into the air with handguns. The BRI was sent to the scene and arrested the three people, who turned out to be off-duty police officers, members of a DOPC intervention company.

The scene filmed

“The intervention took place without incident or injuries”, added the police source, without specifying whether the officers had fired their service weapons, or the nature of the bullets. The prosecution did not provide further details on this point. A search of the home was carried out.

The events took place "apparently in a context of alcoholism", a police source continued. When questioned, the police headquarters only indicated that the three police officers had been "immediately suspended".

Actu17 obtained a video, filmed by a witness, in which two men can be seen opening fire. This video is now circulating on social networks. According to our colleagues, “one of the weapons used is a pellet gun, the second would be an administrative weapon”.
