Cyclist knocked down by a Lamborghini in Avignon: the 25-year-old driver had his license suspended

It was an ordinary day on the D907, near Avignon, until a black Lamborghini suddenly appeared and killed a speeding cyclist in his fifties. Deprived of a driving license due to a suspension, he nevertheless chose to get behind the wheel of this rental car, a machine that requires experience and mastery.

This Sunday could have been a day like any other for a 51-year-old cyclist, but his path crossed that of an irresponsible driver. The collision was fatal and the cyclist did not survive the impact.

“It was a real sight of horror”, sighs a witness present at the scene of the accident. According to him, the impact must have been violent since the victim had “a serious head injury” and his body appeared "disarticulated".

Meanwhile, the two occupants of the rented Lamborghini, the driver and his 16-year-old sister, fled, abandoning the victim according to Le Dauphiné.

He no longer had a driver's license

The reckless driver finally turned himself in to the police station later in the day. He It later turned out that the driver had his license suspended, which adds a crucial element to the case.

Already known to the police, he was immediately taken into custody. According to our colleagues, his sister, who has no criminal record, was later arrested at her home.

Tests carried out revealed that he was neither under the influence of alcohol nor drugs, our colleagues report. This Tuesday, he and his sister should be presented to an investigating judge.
