Summer tour: with bikers in Bédarieux

Après Clermont-l’Hérault l’équipe de la Tournée d’été s’est jointe aux Brescoudos et leurs motos pour animer Bédarieux, ce mardi 3 septembre devant La Poste.

If you didn't know yet, it's Brescoudos week. This group of motorcycle enthusiasts has been touring the region with their bikes since Sunday. Mostly Harley Davidsons and Gold Wings, all carefully customized: flags, stuffed animals, pins, snakes or skulls. The least we can say is that the drivers are not lacking in imagination. Yesterday, the Summer Tour team was with them in Clermont-l'Hérault and followed them, this Tuesday, September 3, 30 km further up to Bédarieux. The arrival took place with the same protocol: at noon no less than 400 bikers invaded the city center, making the decibels explode: engine noise, horns, flashing lights, and exhaust pipes on fire. The Brescoudos, as they are called, are members of an association bringing together more than 1,200 road lovers. Like a true tradition, they crisscross the hinterland every year for eight days, particularly Cap d'Agde and its surroundings. They cross at least three towns per day to share the art of biker living. A freedom that the largest private gathering of bikers in France would not trade for anything in the world. «  It is also an opportunity for us to support the local economy, to offer entertainment and bring happiness to people», explains Chantal, secretary of the association.

A reputation that must be maintained at all costs

The Summer Tour did not forget its entertainment and gifts to be won. While some were taking part in interviews, others were trying their luck at the Jackpot. The mayor, delighted to be organising this event for the first time, announced over the microphone that the bikers would be back next year, an opportunity for him to remind people of the town's projects. «One of our ambitions is to make Bédarieux an attractive hub in all areas, whether cultural, sporting or otherwise. Bédarieux has a reputation for sharing that we must preserve, so we make sure that interesting things happen all year round. » Francis Barsse also works to improve the daily lives of the 6,000 Bédariciens and Bédariciennes «We are in the process of building a new family room to host events, a subdivision with 90 additional homes and finding a sustainable solution for the town's water supply», he concluded.

Two events not to be missed in September

September 7: The first event of the new school year not to be missed is of course the associations forum. More than 80 stands will be set up this Saturday, September 7th to present their activities, from sports to culture, the environment and solidarity.
From September 21st to 22nd:The Joué Club store, in partnership with the town of Bédarieux and the Novabrick association, invites you to a large LEGO® exhibition, entitled “Bédarieux en Briques”, on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 September at the René Char sports complex with more than 1,000 m² of exhibition space.

To welcome the group as it should be, the municipality prepared a gigantic macaroande, a traditional Sète dish, based on meat. In the kitchen: Yves Robin, the mayor of Poujols, came to lend a hand with his chef friend Laurent. A.D.

The Brescoudos form a real community and don't do things by halves. Each season, they elect their Miss, and this year, it's Jessica (left) who has the honor of representing the group of bikers. Behind the organization of these elections is Emma, ​​who is already preparing the 2025 edition. A.D.

It owes its name to the Brescou fort, located in Cap d’Agde. It’s hard to believe, but this gathering was born in 1990 with only seven bikers. Today, the association has grown considerably and has no fewer than 1,200 members, from all over France. Inspired by a Gothic style, no two machines are alike. Between snakes, flags, and even skulls, the Brescudos are not short of imagination. A.D.
