Bird: a new brand dedicated to eye beauty made in Béziers

Nahelle Balligand et Mickaël Boixadera, les fondateurs de Bird. Midi Libre – A. F.

Après le Manoir Étoilé, Nahelle Balligand s’associe à son frère Mickaël Boixadera pour lancer Bird, une marque de produits esthétiques et un centre de formation dédiés à la beauté du regard à
Béziers.

With more than ten years of experience in aesthetics and after the success of her third beauty center and spa opened in 2022, Nahelle is opening a new chapter in her entrepreneurial adventure this year alongside her brother Mickaël. Their project: to create an offer dedicated to eye beauty for professionals, with products that are both more qualitative and accessible and adapted training. “There was clearly a gap in this market and I had been thinking about this idea for a while. My brother and I always wanted to start a business together and when I presented the concept to him, he immediately said go!”, confides Nahelle. Mickaël then put his career as a special effects designer on hold – a career he had been working between France and Canada – and returned to settle in Béziers. It would then take more than a year of market research and product testing by the duo for Bird to see the light of day.

Ethics at the heart of aesthetics

“Beyond the effectiveness of the products, we also aim to raise awareness among beauticians about ecological issues”, explains Mickaël. The company therefore favors products made in Europe. For example, it offers reusable brushes handmade in Germany. A sustainable alternative to disposable products that allows professionals to save money while reducing their ecological footprint. “We want to prove that it is possible to work differently, in a very qualitative and also more responsible way”, adds Nahelle. The Bird training center is also part of this ethical approach, with sessions limited to three students “to guarantee tailor-made learning”. Training courses that concern eyelash extensions and lifts as well as eyebrow design. And while the emphasis is largely placed on practice, the notions of efficiency, profitability and working comfort are also key points.

A 100% Béziers and family brand

“The eyelash market in Europe is almost non-existent. Our long-term plan is to produce our own eyelashes and free ourselves from Asian manufacturers”, says Mickaël. A major project that is part of the brand's desire to become the benchmark in terms of eye beauty. Nahelle and Mickaël have already planned their presence as exhibitors at the Beauty Profs trade fair in Paris in the fall of 2025 “in order to also represent the city of Béziers at the national level.”
