“Support that really pleases me”: Sérignan baker Valentin Garcia relieved after his victory in CNAC

The artisan baker from Sérignan got the green light from the National Commission for Commercial Development on Friday, September 13 in Paris for his ambitious project for a laboratory and a farm shop in Sérignan.

“It went well, I went up to Paris with my son and the first deputy mayor of Sérignan. The opposing lawyer was also there”, explains Valentin Garcia. On Thursday, September 12, in the afternoon, he was summoned before the National Commission for Commercial Development (CNAC) to defend his project: a 450 m2 laboratory (where he plans to make pastries, cakes and even delicatessen dishes), a 300 m2 producers' store and a 150 m2 restaurant-snack bar.

This project had received an initial favourable opinion from the Departmental Commission (CDAC) but this decision had been challenged by an appeal filed by Jean-Claude Dejean, of the Dejean Holding company, head of the Carrefour hypermarket in Sérignan, neighbouring the land chosen by Valentin Garcia for his project.

“I was confident”

“I had already forwarded the elements, I was confident. The next day, at 11am, we had the result: a new favourable opinion." Enough to brighten the horizon for the artisan baker. Now, "we are finalising the permit, following the procedure and should file it next week…" Obtaining the permit, cleared of any appeal, is the prerequisite for acquiring the land, which is now owned by the developer Viaterra. So the road is not yet finished. But morale is boosted. While some 40,000 euros have already been paid to reserve the plot and start soil studies. "I received the support of the Chamber of Trades, Senator Bourgi, the media, it really makes me happy", Valentin Garcia continues.
