A decrease in the yield of the Livret A is announced in connection with the slowdown in inflation. The interest rate of the Livret A, frozen at 3% since February 1, 2023, is very likely to decrease on February 1, 2025.

The Livret A interest rate is likely to decrease to between 2.6 and 2.8% on January 1, 2025, whereas it has been at 3% since February 1, 2023. Bad news for savers.

The Livret A rate, which cannot be less than 0.5%, represents the average between two parameters, recalls the Mercipourlinfo website: inflation in France and the half-yearly average of short-term interbank rates in the eurozone (€STR).

What a drop ?

Frozen for 18 months, the Livret A yield is to be revalued on January 1, 2025. It is calculated in part using the annual inflation observed over the last ten months. The increase in prices, excluding tobacco, should be 1.8% on average, according to Capital. Regarding the second half of the equation, the rates at which banks borrow on a day-to-day basis should be around 3.4% in the coming days.

Result: the Livret A interest rate on January 1, 2025 should be 2.6 or 2.7% compared to the current 3%.

The Livret A rate is the same as that of the Livret de développement durable et solidaire.
