1 : Activities for young and old

As in previous editions of the Summer Tour, the Midi Libre stand in Lavérune this Saturday, September 21 will offer games and activities for young and old. Children will be able to take part in a treasure hunt, where they will have to find clues to complete a course and win many gifts. A one-armed bandit, the famous game of chance found in casinos, will also be on hand to keep the most playful players busy and happy. Enough to promise lots of laughs and a great time together!

2 : Highlighting heritage

In addition to hosting the Summer Tour, the village is celebrating 25 years of protecting and promoting its heritage. A retrospective will highlight the significant actions taken by the municipality over the past 25 years to preserve and promote its rich heritage through open tours and exhibitions. The media library, church, museum and terrace lounge will reveal all about their history. In addition to observing the evolution of the heritage, visitors will have the opportunity to attend the inauguration of the new tennis clubhouse. Finally, the highlight of the weekend will be the concert by the duo “Two Girls and a Piano”, which will be held in the music room of the Château des Évêques on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

3 : A remarkable heritage

Just four kilometres west of Montpellier, this small village of 3,300 inhabitants is home to a remarkable natural heritage made up of a natural area of ecological, faunal and floral interest. But Lavérune also has a rich history to explore, particularly through its emblematic Château des Évêques and its vast park. Initially a feudal castle, then a religious building, it later served as a laboratory for plant experiments. Other sites are also worth a visit, such as the Château de l'Engarran, dating from the 18th century, the parish church, which combines elements from the 14th and 18th centuries, or the Hofer-Bury museum, dedicated to contemporary painting. Nature lovers will also find what they are looking for by exploring the wet meadows that border the Mosson, or by strolling in the castle park.

4: A rich cultural program

Throughout the year, the city offers a rich programme of activities, with numerous events such as festivals, guided tours, exhibitions and shows, often free. The village also benefits from a very dynamic community life with no fewer than 1,700 people registered in an association, for a total of 3,300 inhabitants.

Roger Caizergues, Mayor of Lavérune MIDI LIBRE

Interview

Roger Caizergues, Mayor of Lavérune: “Lavérune offers well-being and tranquility”

Do you think your city has improved over the years??
Of course, whether in terms of renovation or quality of life. In addition, we have an essential land protection policy. For example, we have acquired a lot of land along the Mosson to protect these green spaces and make them accessible to our residents. We also buy agricultural land to support the maintenance of biodiversity. Recently, we planted 300 olive trees. It is crucial that residents can find places to recharge their batteries, with nature nearby.

How do you imagine Lavérune tomorrow??
We have several projects, including the rehabilitation of the city center and Avenue des Serres to make it more suitable for pedestrians and cyclists. We want to develop soft mobility so that residents can more easily reach the future bus and tram station.

It's not difficult to be so close to Montpellier?
The proximity to Montpellier has undeniable advantages, but Lavérune offers its own services and above all a certain tranquility. Also, what many people don't know is that more than 600 people come to work in Lavérune every day, which is not nothing. Whether it's people who are settling in or those who have lived here for a long time, we make sure that they find well-being in our city, it's essential and we do everything to offer them on-site services and facilities that make their daily lives easier.

The essentials

Professionals' Fair

The municipality is launching a brand new event this Saturday, October 5: the Professionals' Expo Fair. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Place de la République, residents will have the opportunity to meet professionals who work in the village throughout the year. In partnership with the Hérault Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), this initiative aims to bring together residents and local stakeholders, who are often unknown to the general public. Throughout the morning, artisans and shopkeepers will be present to discuss their profession and know-how.

A day of sharing

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October, the Journée des Partages will be held, a highly anticipated event for the people of Lavérun. For a week, the town will collect items that residents want to get rid of: clothes, toys, books, dishes, decorations, which will be sorted and then resold at very attractive prices at a large market. This flea market is above all a way to create intergenerational links and to enjoy pancakes carefully prepared by young people. If you wish to donate items, they should be dropped off in the multi-purpose room (Château des Évêques) from October 7 to 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

November 11, remembering

As every year, November 11 will be marked by commemorations throughout France. The city will not deviate and will celebrate the centenary of the inauguration of its War Memorial, erected in tribute to the village's fighters. As a reminder, the town hall has launched a kitty since March to help the city. The goal is to raise €20,000 to finance part of the restoration work on the monument and the statue of Marianne, for a total cost of €43,320 excluding tax. Donors will be able to benefit from tax reductions. More information on 04 99 51 20 00.
