The Place Victor-Hugo in Sète is hosting a major event around oysters until Sunday, September 22.

Although there is no longer an oyster festival in Bouzigues, it is still the Bouzigues oyster festival which is taking place this Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September on the Place Victor-Hugo in Sète.

Two days of entertainment

Indeed, as part of the very serious Mediterranean scaling championship (this Sunday at 11 a.m.), the Thau basin producers' cooperative has set up two days of entertainment – a unique initiative in the context of this competition in all the basins of France – around the pearl of the Thau lagoon. So this Saturday was rather reserved for demonstrations (unshelling and gluing) and explanations of the profession of these sea farmers. Not forgetting the tastings, the different craft stands (around the oyster) and the different ways of recycling the shell.

Who will be champion ?

This Sunday, eight candidates – including two from the Thau lagoon – will therefore participate in the championship. Hoping that the trend of the last editions is confirmed: namely that the winner in Sète then becomes champion of France. Let's cross the shells.

Sunday, September 22: Mediterranean oyster shucking championship 11 a.m.: theoretical test 11:30 a.m.: speed test for opening four dozen oysters 2 p.m.: shellfish platter assembly test Around 5:30 p.m.: announcement of the results and free tasting of the shellfish platters.
