The Summer Tour pitched its tent one last time this Saturday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lavérune. A date that marks the end of three months of showcasing the region and its players.

After three months crisscrossing the region to show you its towns and villages, the Summer Tour is coming to an end. For its final stop, Midi Libre set down its suitcases in Lavérune, a few kilometers from Montpellier, in an exceptional setting. This Saturday, September 21 was the ideal day to highlight this small village. Indeed, this third weekend of September marks the European Heritage Days, and the least we can say is that Lavérune is worth the detour. This small town of 3,300 inhabitants is home to no fewer than three castles, including the famous Château des Évêques, an architectural gem from the 17th and 18th centuries. This site, surrounded by a majestic park, was for a long time the residence of the bishops of Montpellier. Between preserved nature and history, Lavérune is the ideal destination for lovers of art and history, with its church, its wet meadows and its museum. « We are doing everything possible to preserve this exceptional heritage amp;raquo; emphasizes the mayor, Roger Caizergues. «  We will soon be rehabilitating the city centre and Avenue des Serres. The town is also striving to offer many facilities, such as sports complexes, schools and reception centres. » A living environment that appeals to visitors: «  Many people want to settle here, but unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everyone,» adds the mayor.

25 years of preservation and enhancement

Throughout the morning, several elected officials were able to appreciate the city's many assets, during a guided tour by the municipality. Some of them also took the time to speak to our host, Jean-Pierre Delor. Patricia Weber, departmental councilor and vice-president for solidarity and the economy, did not hide her attachment to the town: «  It's my favorite village. There's friendliness, living together and a human dimension at all levels. I also hold offices there where associations and people with disabilities can come and ask me their questions. » A feeling widely shared by Christian Assaf, regional councilor and vice president of the Métropole: «  Lavérune is one of those modern places that respect their history. »
The morning and the fifth edition of the Tour ended with a friendly cocktail, marking the end of a great summer adventure in the heart of the region.

The two events not to be missed in October

Professionals' Fair: The municipality is launching a brand new event this Saturday, October 5: the Professionals Expo Fair. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Place de la République, residents will have the opportunity to meet professionals who work in the village throughout the year.

Sharing Day: The Sharing Day will be held on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. The city will collect the objects that residents want to get rid of: clothes, toys, books, dishes, decorations, which will be sorted and then resold at very attractive prices at a large market.
