"Parents are seriously starting to lose patience": Kéolis Méditerranée begins its 4th week of transport strike

Employees begin their fourth week of strike. – DR

After two weeks of strike before the summer holidays, employees of Kéolis Méditerranée have resumed their mobilization since September 2 and are beginning their fourth week of strike since the start of the school year. “Participation remains as strong as ever in Agde and Sète”, they specify, “but management has still not wanted to reopen social dialogue and has tried to find a solution to the conflict, to the detriment of users”.

“At no time has there been any discussion”

“We really thought we would find an agreement with management by giving notice of a strike for the start of the school year, but at no time was there any discussion. Our director is continually trying to downplay the extent of our mobilization and just hopes that the movement runs out of steam by not hesitating to put pressure on some people."

Employees hope to find common ground with their management.

With 70% of the driving and workshop staff on strike in Agde and 60% in Sète, the network is still seriously disrupted "and parents of students affected by the lack of school transport are seriously starting to lose patience", add the striking employees.

"We went to meet some parents, by handing out leaflets in front of schools or at strategic locations, and most of them, even if they express their annoyance, understand the situation and support us. We know, however, that the situation must evolve quickly in order to avoid any overflow and we are doing everything possible to do so."

"We have shown our willingness to find common ground"

Letters have been sent to local elected officials and authorities, with the hope for employees that their interventions will help to unblock the situation. “Since the beginning of this social conflict, unlike the management of Kéolis Méditerranée, we have shown our willingness to find common ground and an agreement, but our demands must be taken seriously, they are legitimate and must be heard. Employees are tired of seeing some people gorge themselves while others struggle to make ends meet.”
