This Wednesday, September 25, on the occasion of the national day of homage to the Harkis, a ceremony was held at the Monument aux Morts du plateau des poètes.

On this Wednesday, September 25, as every year, for the national day of homage to the Harkis, the City of Béziers honored these fighters who died for France. A wreath laying ceremony took place at the new cemetery before the traditional ceremony at the Plateau des Poètes War Memorial.

Presided over by the sub-prefect of Béziers Jacques Lubéreilh, the ceremony was marked by a speech by the mayor, Robert Ménard, who reaffirmed his support for his fighters, who died for France, as well as for their loved ones. He stated: “No, my Harkis friends have never been auxiliaries”.
