Narbonne and Béziers lead the revolt, a new steering committee for the National Volleyball League

Depuis ce jeudi 26 septembre, la ligue nationale de volley-ball est présidée par Jean Azéma, ancien président du club de Toulouse, soutenu par des clubs comme Narbonne, Béziers, Cannes ou encore Saint-Nazaire.

The National Volleyball League is no longer chaired by Yves Bouget, in place since 2020. He is replaced by the former president of the Toulouse Spacers (2008-2022) Jean Azéma and his list which includes in particular the president of the Centurions Narbonne Bastien Anglade and that of the Béziers Angels Bernard Fages.

“Clubs feel in danger”

This is the logical continuation of a revolt led by certain professional clubs and an electoral meeting brought forward after the revocation of the League's steering committee at the end of June. “We are happy with this result, rejoices Bastien Anglade. This is the result of several months of work. There is a real desire for change because the clubs feel in danger. There are bankruptcies in cascades every season. We wanted to stop the bleeding. The LNV wanted to initiate changes that were far too abrupt without support and without communication with the clubs. We ourselves, the Centurions of Narbonne, almost died in the summer of 2022 and 2023. We see that others have fallen, we couldn't continue like this.”

The newly elected leaders already have a good idea of ​​the strategy they want to implement: “The main idea is to bring back communication and collaboration internally, continues Anglade, a new member of the League's steering committee. We no longer want vertical decision-making, we want something more human and caring.”
