Thermal sieves will soon be banned for rental. The Agglo provides assistance for thermal renovation work.

2600. This is the number of condominiums in Nîmes that are classified as energy class F or G. “These are thermal sieves, in other words, indecent housing, explains Ludovic Tourdiat, president of the syndic Unis Occitanie. It will soon no longer be possible to rent them. This is why condominium trustees, who have recently become environmental players, are taking action for renovation. And that we decided to thank the Agglo."

This Friday morning, at the Grand Hôtel de Nîmes, representatives of the Nîmes trustees welcomed the president of Nîmes Métropole Franck Proust and the vice-president delegated to housing Géraldine Rey Deschamps "to thank them: a few months ago at the Co-ownership Show, Franck Proust had said that he would submit to a vote a resolution to propose an additional bonus to help co-ownerships having to carry out thermal renovation work. He kept his commitments. On June 26, Nîmes Métropole voted for aid of 600 euros per dwelling eligible for the Anah system. “An amount that can be combined with the Ma Prime Renov' or CEE (energy saving certificate) schemes. And which can convince owners who are reluctant to commit often large sums to take the plunge.

Agglomeration one-stop shop

In front of the representatives of the co-ownerships, Franck Proust put forward a one-stop shop project within Nîmes Métropole : “Renovation is becoming an obstacle course. We need simplification, and also to allow citizens to avoid a whole bunch of scams that can have dramatic consequences. The Agglo will set up a Maison de l'Habitat in its premises in 2025. Having this one-stop shop within Nîmes Métropole will allow us to provide better guidance."

In 2025, housing in energy class G will be prohibited from being rented. In 2028, the same will apply to F-rated housing and in 2034 to E-rated housing. “From now on, a tenant will be able to force a landlord to carry out energy performance work”, explains Ludovic Tourdiat, who recalls the regional ambitions: to make Occitanie “the first positive energy region in Europe”.
