The TTC has recorded a record number of requests since the beginning of September.

As could be expected, the effect of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games coupled with the performances of the Lebrun brothers is having an impact on the clubs. TT Clermont-l’Hérault is not immune to the enthusiasm generated around table tennis and has been overwhelmed by requests for new players since the start of the school year.

Leisure, competition and health

"We're going to have to push the walls, smiles Sébastien Carmona, who is starting his 2nd year as president. We are very happy with this influx, however we are close to the maximum capacity". Last year, the club had 65 members, now it is already approaching 100 with people still arriving. “From the day of the associations, people came to see us and told us that their children had seen the Lebrun brothers at the Olympics. In addition, they are from Montpellier right next door and they can go see them play or meet them”. The virus has also affected adults who have decided to (re)start playing Ping. “The Olympics were a trigger for some, that's obvious. Then we will see in December and January if this craze is sustainable".

Training sessions are full in the room on the 1st floor of the college gymnasium. ML – DR

The club offers training sessions during the week and on Saturday mornings, it offers the possibility of playing competitively or recreationally and plays the inclusion card with its Sport Santé section, set up by the club's coach Anne-Laure Lopez with the help of Véronique Grisot-Garbacz, who suffers from Parkinson's disease.

A big tournament on Sunday, December 8

The Clermontais Table Tennis will organize a FFTT tournament on Sunday, December 8, open to all, including people with pathologies or diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, etc. on the ground floor of the college gymnasium. “We are moving forward with the organization with five tables, four normal FFTT with a double open to non-licensees, and a Parkinson's.” specifies Sébastien Carmona pushed by Véronique Grisot-Garbacz, a club member, who is never short of ideas. "Everyone is welcome here, young and old.
