L’antenne bagnolaise de la Ligue contre le cancer organise plusieurs événements pour inciter les femmes à se faire dépister.

“Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. It is increasing among younger people and those over 74,” emphasizes Nina Ehrmann, head of the Bagnolse branch of the Ligue contre le cancer. “And the screening figures are not increasing,” she regrets. However, “screening must be done every two years. In France, screening is offered to all women between the ages of 50 and 74, who receive a letter inviting them to have a mammogram. “A palpation and examination can be done by a midwife,” she recalls.

An incentive to get screened repeated every year during Pink October, an international campaign rolled out in the towns and villages of the Gard Rhodanien. In Bagnols-sur-Cèze, in partnership with the town hall, the League against cancer organizes several events, the aim of which is also to collect donations for research and to help patients with support care offers. “At the Bagnols branch of the League, around a hundred sick people come more or less regularly. There are few men but a little more each year” notes Nina Ehrmann.
