La délégation bagnolaise de la Ligue contre le cancer est composée d’une quinzaine de bénévoles. Ces volontaires ont plusieurs missions notamment nouer le dialogue et accompagner les personnes liées à la maladie.

In Bagnols-sur-Cèze, about fifteen volunteers have joined the League against Cancer. These members all got involved for similar reasons. "We decided to mobilize to help those affected because we have been linked to the disease, whether it be a family member, friends or ourselves, testify the volunteers. We show kindness by raising awareness and renewing dialogue."

The League Against Cancer is a national, non-governmental association. The organization is structured into departmental committees, including that of Gard. These branches are branched out into several delegations in cities in the department, such as Bagnols-sur-Cèze. The association lives off donations from individuals and businesses. Each fund raised helps finance research into all types of cancer and helps patients and caregivers.

Supporting patients and caregivers

The Bagnolaise volunteers have several missions. Volunteers participate in awareness-raising and organize activities. The association provides support care in adapted physical activity in conjunction with the Bagnols sports and health center, individual psychological support, dietary care, sophrology, etc. This care is covered by the League for three years following the processing times.

“We feel that there are many requests for listening and help, says Nina Ehrmann, head of the Bagnols delegation. We are faced with all types of situations, whether they are tragedies, isolated people or people in financial difficulty."

The Bagnols branch also has several partnerships. The head of the delegation is on duty every Thursday at the Bagnols-sur-Cèze hospital center. The association is also linked to the Nursing Training Institute to do prevention and awareness-raising.

Les Gentilles Organisatrices

Every year, a few volunteers from the Bagnols-sur-Cèze delegation organize the Pink October evening at the Moba. The group, nicknamed the Gentilles organizers, organizes and coordinates all the preparations. The event is held every first weekend of October – or last weekend of September – like this year on September 28, and the theme varies every year. Entrance fees are charged and raffles are organized.

“We have partnerships with the town's shops and businesses, which offer us the raffle prizes every year, explains Muriel Valentin. We feel that the town's stakeholders are involved. This evening allows us to pass on the message in a positive way."

Each fund raised during this evening is donated to the association to finance research and aid in the treatment of all cancers.
