“Up to 9 TGVs per minute”: after opening its ticket office for the end-of-year holidays, the SNCF announces a “record” attendance

This Wednesday morning, from 6am, many French people went to the SNCF website to get train tickets for the end-of-year holidays. The ticket office opened this morning, and the railway company is talking about a"record" of’attendance, reports BFMTV.

A high attendance

TGV, Ouigo, Intercités, international trains… The tickets put on sale this morning by the SNCF for the Christmas holidays were highly anticipated. And customers have responded more than present. "Nearly 1.7 million tickets were sold on the site and the application on this first day of opening sales for the holidays", assures the French railway company.

The audience has increased "by more than 15% on the site and the application compared to last year". Thus, the peak of tickets sold was reached before 7am, details the SNCF, with “up to 9 TGVs filled per minute” , compared to “6 TGVs” in 2023, the news channel emphasizes. A real "record" for both the website and the SNCF Connect application.

As a reminder, since 6 a.m. this morning, if you are a TGV, Ouigo, Intercités and TER user, you will be able to book your tickets for a journey between December 15, 2024 and January 8, 2025.

From from this October 2, 2024, you will be able to book your tickets for different journeys, the railway company indicates on its website: TGV Inoui in France and Intercités for your journeys until January 8, 2025 TER for your journeys in the next 3, 4 or 5 months, depending on the region Ouigo for your journeys until July 4, 2025

Users are advised to book as early as possible, as soon as their ticket office opens. On the one hand, to have attractive prices and on the other hand, to be sure of having a place: “Among the most popular destinations, some displayed up to a quarter of the trains full within three days of the opening of sales”, indicated Trainline.
