“Yeah, they're strong”: Garage worker reveals inside of unmarked police vehicle, posts video on social media

A video that earned this employee of a Speedy garage a short time in police custody. He had filmed the inside of an unmarked police car, before posting the images on social media.

A real guided tour. An employee of a Speedy garage in Rueil-Malmaison in Hauts-de-Seine published a video on social networks showing the interior of a “submarine”, in other words, an unmarked police vehicle.

The video was widely relayed and shared many times, indicates the website Actu 17, which reveals the information. Dropped off at the garage to be serviced, the vehicle is given a complete tour by the mechanic, who shows “the camera at the back in the brake light” and even “a toilet to pee in. “Yeah, they're strong,” he can be heard saying.

“Total lack of professionalism”

The video even reveals the car's license plate. Images that quickly made people jump. An investigator denounces “a total lack of professionalism and especially of seriousness on the part of this employee”.

The fact that the plate was distributed is also problematic. “Many garages are now authorized to consult and use part of the Vehicle Registration System (SIV). A file that allows them to obtain personal information about their clients,” explains the investigator.

A source explains that to reduce costs, repairs and maintenance of police vehicles can be entrusted to private service providers, even if "some repairs are nevertheless still carried out by the garages of the police headquarters".

The suspect was taken into custody on September 26 and an investigation has been opened, indicates Actu 17, specifying that Neither Speedy nor the Paris police headquarters wished to comment.
