Inauguration of the new Kilomètre Delta car park in Nîmes: a safer place for truck drivers

Opened on August 19, the new parking lot at the Delta kilometer for heavy goods vehicle drivers was inaugurated in the presence of Franck Proust, president of Nîmes Métropole, Eric Giraudier, president of the CCI du Gard and the directors of Sofrapark, owner of the premises.

Two hectares of parking, showers and a rest area with food and drink vending machines. This is what the new parking lot of the delta kilometer looks like, located on the Cours de Dion Bouton, and inaugurated on Friday, October 4. A project carried out by the company Sofrapark, represented by Stéphane Djiane and Benoît Amager. “This new parking lot will make it easier to pass through but also offer a safer living space for truckers thanks to surveillance cameras, 24/7 security guards and access barriers”, explains Stéphane Djiane.

A project worth nearly two million euros

The company, which bought the land from the CCI du Gard for 1.8 million euros, has invested nearly 200,000 euros to redevelop this space. An investment that should quickly pay for itself thanks to reservations, ranging from 2.50 euros including tax for one hour to 81.60 euros between 56 and 59 hours. “We work with three booking partners and within a week, a toll payment system will be set up”, continues the entrepreneur. Open since August 19, the car park is currently at 60% of its capacity, which is 109 heavy goods vehicles.

Photovoltaic panels and charging stations in the future

And Sofrapark does not intend to stop there. Indeed, Stéphane Djiane and Benoît Amager are already planning to expand the area by purchasing the two hectares of land adjacent to the current car park. “We also have plans to install photovoltaic panels and electric charging stations, devices that would limit the ecological footprint to be in line with environmental issues”, concludes the manager of Sofrapark.
