Thierry Julier from Lozère called to Paris to sit on the CESE and to advise the government and Parliament

Au sein du Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE), Thierry Julier, président de la CCI de la Lozère, entend travailler pour le développement économique du territoire.

Thierry Julier, insurer and president of the Lozère Chamber of Commerce and Industry, made the announcement on Thursday, October 3, 2024: he is preparing to join the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the third French constitutional assembly (with the National Assembly and the Senate), composed of social representatives.

“The president of CCI France has just appointed me. I want to give substance to the FRR and FRR + system (France Ruralités revitalisation, which replaces the Rural Revitalisation Zones, Editor's note). I owe it to the territory", he explained.

Consulted on draft laws

The EESC's mission is to advise the government and Parliament and to participate in the development of social, economic and environmental policy; for example, it gives its opinion on draft laws. It also contributes to the evaluation of public policies in these areas.

Composed of 175 members and chaired by Thierry Beaudet, the EESC is based at the Palais d'Iéna in Paris. The plenary assembly brings together all of its members twice a month, who also work on committees. “I accepted this mission because I have a great general manager at the CCI, Cindy Guignard, a well-established team, and in my job too“, he confided.

Thierry Julier is joining the EESC during the term of office (2021 to 2026). His appointment must be ratified by the Prime Minister during the month.
